Masafumi & Valerie's Pre-Wedding Portrait Shoot in Tokyo

Tokyo Pre-Wedding Photoshoot

Pre-Wedding & Engagement photoshoot in Tokyo

Taken at Hibiya Park / Imperial Palace / Tokyo Station

I was delighted to receive a request earlier this year for a pre-wedding and engagement photoshoot in Tokyo from this beautiful couple. Masafumi & Valerie wanted mostly nature as a backdrop for their photo session but also still wanted a bit of the city featured in the shoot too. Tokyo is an incredibly diverse city and there are so many places to choose from but in the end we settled on Hibiya Park which has a beautiful traditional garden followed by the surroundings of the Imperial Place and Tokyo Station. It was a wonderful shoot and we had a lot of fun, laughs and giggles throughout!

I always like to keep my portrait photography very natural and somewhat candid. I want it to have a very timeless feel to it so the photos still look good on your wall many years from now. I do help with posing and getting people in position but what I’m really looking for are the moments in-between, when a kiss or hug comes naturally or you burst out laughing because of something you said to each other. I keep things relaxed and the main thing is just to have fun and capture some great moments together!

I love shooting in nature as well as the city and its lovely lantern lit backstreets. It’s also nice to show people around my favourite spots in the city that I now call home, Tokyo. Anyway, I’m starting to ramble on a bit so I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking for me!
