Romantic Couples Engagement Session in Asakusa, Tokyo

Asakusa needs no introduction and is one of the most popular tourist areas in Tokyo and for good reason too. Sensoji temple is a stunning backdrop to any portrait session regardless of the occasion. The surrounding streets and backstreets give a real sense of Japan particularly at nighttime which is when I recommend for shoots in this area.

Asakusa can get very busy in the daytime particularly during the peak seasons of the Autumn Leaves and Cherry Blossoms when tourism is at its highest! As such, I recommend shooting here a little later in the day so the bulk of the crowds have settled down and allow us to move around and capture some of the city lights and lantern lit backstreets!

Ueno & Ameyoko Market are also situation fairly close by and can be combined with a shoot in Asakusa quite easily. Again though, I do recommend early evening rather than the daytime. There are so many lights and lanterns that it’s actually quite simple to take some beautiful lit and striking couples portraits.

Here are a few example of images from a night time city lights shoot in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan.
