A Japan Elopement in a beautiful traditional garden, Kyoto

An Intimate ceremony in one of Kyoto’s most beautiful traditional gardens

There are some weddings when everything just aligns perfectly, the location, the outfit, the seasonal foliage, the weather and light…this was an elopement to remember! Set in the hills on the outskirts of Kyoto in a very special (and somewhat secret) Japanese Garden. If you elope here I promise you that you will most definitely feel like you’re in Japan and going back in time!

This was planned in partnership with some Wedding Planner friends of mine and what we usually do is offer an early morning portrait session along the quaint back streets of Higashi-yama. These streets get extremely busy as the day goes on especially now tourism is back in full force so unfortunately, the only option is waking up with the sun and getting out there!

Following the portrait session we all take a quick break, have breakfast and start getting ready for the main event - a beautiful garden elopement. I love shooting in nature and love it even more when I can combine traditional Japanese elements into the mix.

I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking but if you are interested in something similar to this please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the button below!
