The High Coast Hike, Sweden

Höga Kusten Hike - A UNESCO World Heritage landscape perfect for multi day hiking in Sweden

A couple of years ago I had the pleasure of experiencing Sweden’s stunning high coast. I must admit, I hadn’t heard much about the high coast before but I’m so glad we stumbled across this event and signed up to it. Great people, great atmosphere and superb nature. What more could one ask for from a hiking trip?

In 2018 myself and three other friends signed up to the High Coast hike; Europe’s second largest hiking adventure in a stunning World Heritage area of natural beauty. The hike takes place over three days in August with a bunch of like minded people signing up from all over the World. The event has an almost festival like vibe to it with plenty of outdoorsy talks in the evenings from some of Scandinavia’s leading outdoor brands.

The hike is good for both beginners and more experienced hikers - just be prepared to carry enough gear to set up camp each evening! There are plenty of natural springs along the way so carrying lots of water isn’t much of an issue which certainly helps with the weight of your pack! The campsites were all in lovely locations which were ideal for relaxing in the evenings - and taking a morning dip in some very fresh water! I honestly believe that there is no better way to wake up than diving into fresh cold water. Hot showers…who needs em?!

The scenery was a mixture of beautiful forest and stunning coastal views which were an absolute joy to hike through. I love being out in nature and I simply don’t get enough of it to be honest. These multi day hikes are perfect to really remove yourself from the modern world for a bit and get back to basics. I didn’t switch my phone on once during the hike which was an absolute dream! It’s just good for the soul.

Anyway, I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking for me. If you ever get a chance to join the high coast hike then I highly recommend doing so - you won’t regret it!
