A Surprise Proposal photoshoot in London

A beautiful surprise marriage proposal in St. James Park, central London

Chris got in touch with me to help organise this lovely surprise proposal in St. James Park and I’m happy to say - she said yes! We also successfully managed to keep it a complete surprise too! A few days prior to the day itself I had the chance to take a walk through St. James Park to check out some nice spots with Autumn leaves. I marked a few spots on google maps and we decided to roll with one of the locations. It all worked out lovely - I arrived at the location slightly before the arranged timing and kept an eye out for Chris (he sent a selfie earlier in the morning). Once I saw him I followed along and waited for the moment!

There are a couple of ways to go about a surprise proposal. Like this one, you could opt for a total surprise and meet me at a predetermined location at a specific time. Whilst I do my best to limit the risk, I can never be sure that a delivery van or a big crowd of people suddenly appear and block my view. It’s also a little tricky to get the perfect composition since I can’t direct but really, it’s catching the moment and reaction that counts.

One other way to do a surprise proposal is to book a portrait session and we can have a simple code word when you think you’re in a spot that suits. This approach has less risk but I imagine there might be some suspicion on your g/f or b/f’s behalf! I have to say though - it’s mostly still come as a surprise from my experience of doing surprise proposal photoshoots in London.

I believe that a marriage proposal is definitely a beautiful moment in our lives that deserves being documented - an image to look back on in years to come.

Whilst capturing the moment itself, I also allow time for a small portrait session afterwards. As far as packages go I charge a minimum of a 1 hour session for surprise proposals since they require a bit more logistical planning and I always arrive on site early to avoid any mishaps on the day.

Anyway, I’ll let the photos from this lovely shoot below to do the rest of the talking!
