Wedding Photography FAQ
WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH AND STYLE AS A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
I work behind the scenes capturing natural, candid photos that tell a beautiful story of your day. I don’t get in the way. I also provide time for some more traditional or creative portraits. For a more detailed explanation of my approach to Wedding Photography, please click here.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
I live in Canterbury but spend much of my time in London. I can provide Wedding Photography services throughout the UK.
DO WE MEET BEFORE THE WEDDING?
If you're local to Kent and London I will happily meet you in person for a coffee. If it's further afield, we can use Skype.
DO YOU TAKE GROUP PHOTOS AND PORTRAITS?
Yes. Whilst my main goal is to document the Wedding day as it unfolds, I always provide time for some more traditional (or creative) portraits and group photos. I always appreciate it if you can assign someone to help me gather the right people for the group photos!
HOW LONG DO YOU STAY FOR?
I love photographing weddings and stay the whole day up to around 10 o clock in the evening
HOW DO WE GET OUR PHOTOS?
I use a service called 'pixieset' which provides a beautiful and secure online album where you can share and download photos. It also allows you to purchase prints and albums through 'loxley colour,' a high quality print lab located here in the UK.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEND THE FINAL PHOTOS?
Times can vary slightly but I aim to provide you with the full edited photos within 2 weeks.
DO YOU PROVIDE SHORTER, CUSTOM WEDDING PACKAGES?
Yes. If you don’t want to cover the whole day and are more interested in just the main ceremony for example, I’m happy to tailor a package just for you.
HOW MANY PHOTOS DO YOU PROVIDE?
For Wedding photography, I promise to deliver 300 high quality photos for a whole day. In reality, it can also be a lot more depending on the days’ events. Either way, you’ll have plenty of photos that help you relive your day from beginning to end.
HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?
To secure the date I need a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit of £300. As soon as I receive these 2 things – the date goes in the calendar (which makes it official!)
DO YOU HAVE A BACK UP?
As a professional photographer pushing his gear to the limits, I need to be ready for any eventuality. I always take two camera bodies with me and a smaller spare camera so rest assured, your day will be captured from beginning to end! The photos will be backed up on my hard disk as soon as I arrive home!
DO YOU USE A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?
For full day packages, yes, I will generally be using a second photographer to help me capture events from different angles so you’ll never miss a moment. If it is a smaller Wedding then it may not be necessary.
DO WE NEED TO FEED YOU?
It would be much appreciated if you can but if not, I can make other arrangements.
ARE YOU INSURED?
I most certainly am!
DO WE OWN THE COPYRIGHT OF THE IMAGES?
Not really. You have a license to print and share your photographs. The full copyright is retained by me. All that means is that you can’t sell, modify or enter the photographs in competitions.
CAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY ORDER PRINTS?
They certainly can! Prints can be ordered through the online photo gallery.
HOW DOES IT WORK WITH THE WEDDING ALBUM?
If you wish to make an album I am happy to help out. You can provide a list of favourite photos via the online gallery and I can make arrangements for a beautiful, handmade wedding photography album
CAN WE PRINT PHOTOS OURSELVES?
Yes. You can download the images via the online album and print the images however you want. Be warned though, some print shops are better than others. If you purchase a print via the online album they will be processed by Loxley Colour, a highly respected print company in the UK.
HOW BIG ARE THE PHOTOS?
Bigger than you’ll ever need, unless you’re planning to have your own billboard!
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM ILL (ME)?
I always have a plan in place. I should state that I would have to be seriously unwell not to attend. If I broke a leg, I would still try and come in a wheel chair! Failing that I am part of a large collective of photographers. I would arrange for another professional with a similar style to my own to work on my behalf. If you found your own arrangements then you would of course be entitled to a full refund (obviously!)
