Wedding Photography Faq

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH AND STYLE AS A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?

I work behind the scenes capturing natural, candid photos that tell a beautiful story of your day. I don’t get in the way. I also provide time for some more traditional or creative portraits.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

I live in Canterbury but spend much of my time in London. I can provide Wedding Photography services throughout the UK.

DO WE MEET BEFORE THE WEDDING?
If you're local to Kent and London I will happily meet you in person for a coffee. If it's further afield, we can use Skype.

DO YOU TAKE GROUP PHOTOS AND PORTRAITS?
Yes. Whilst my main goal is to document the Wedding day as it unfolds, I always provide time for some more traditional (or creative) portraits and group photos. I always appreciate it if you can assign someone to help me gather the right people for the group photos!

HOW LONG DO YOU STAY FOR?

I love photographing weddings and stay the whole day up to around 10 o clock in the evening depending on the package you have booked.

HOW DO WE GET OUR PHOTOS?

You will receive a beautiful and secure online album where you can share and download photos. It also allows you to purchase prints and albums through a high quality print lab located here in the UK.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEND THE FINAL PHOTOS?

Times can vary slightly but I aim to provide you with the full edited photos within 2 weeks.

HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?

To secure the date I need a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit of £300. As soon as I receive these 2 things – the date goes in the calendar (which makes it official!)

Please note that the deposit is non refundable to cover any losses I may sustain by lost bookings.

The Final Payment is made 1 month before the actual Wedding Day.

DO YOU HAVE A BACK UP?

As a professional photographer pushing his gear to the limits, I need to be ready for any eventuality. I always take two camera bodies with me and a smaller spare camera so rest assured, your day will be captured from beginning to end! The photos will be backed up on my hard disk as soon as I arrive home!

DO YOU USE A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

For full day packages, yes, I will generally be using a second photographer to help me capture events from different angles so you’ll never miss a moment. If it is a smaller Wedding then it may not be necessary.

DO WE NEED TO FEED YOU?

It would be much appreciated if you can but if not, I can make other arrangements.

ARE YOU INSURED?
I most certainly am!

DO WE OWN THE COPYRIGHT OF THE IMAGES?

Not really. You have a license to print and share your photographs. The full copyright is retained by me. All that means is that you can’t sell, modify or enter the photographs in competitions.

CAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY ORDER PRINTS?

They certainly can! Prints can be ordered through the online photo gallery.

CAN WE PRINT PHOTOS OURSELVES?

Yes. You can download the images via the online album and print the images however you want. Be warned though, some print shops are better than others. If you purchase a print via the online album they will be processed by a highly respected print company in the UK for accurate colours.

HOW BIG ARE THE PHOTOS?
Bigger than you’ll ever need, unless you’re planning to have your own billboard!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM ILL (ME)?

I always have a plan in place. I should state that I would have to be seriously unwell not to attend. If I broke a leg, I would still try and come in a wheel chair! Failing that I am part of a large collective of photographers. I would arrange for another professional with a similar style to my own to work on my behalf. If you found your own arrangements then you would of course be entitled to a full refund (obviously!)

I LOST MY PHOTOS. DO YOU KEEP A BACK UP?

Whilst I do keep a back up of your photos, I cannot take responsibility for the storage of your photographs beyond the 6 month period of your online gallery. Events unknown to me such as a fire could destroy my own back ups so please ensure you download the files and create several back ups (on different hard disks or cloud storage if possible).

THE ENGLISH WEATHER. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS?

Unfortunately I cannot control the weather but I will do my best to create some beautiful photos for you no matter what the weather is. If it is raining heavily outside then we can still create some beautiful portraits indoors. It might be a good idea to bring some umbrellas too since taking photos in the rain can also be fun too!

DO YOU PROVIDE PHOTO RETOUCHING - SKIN/FACE?

Whilst I do edit my photos to give a more film like and nostalgic look, I do not provide skin retouching services. I believe we should celebrate ourselves for who we are and therefore like to keep my photos as natural as possible. However, if you’ve unfortunately woken up with a bad spot or hit your head on a shelf the day before (it happens) then I can make some simple adjustments.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE ARE RUNNING LATE?

From experience, Weddings always tend to run a little late! This is no problem at all and I’ll be there ready and waiting. If your Wedding is running massively behind schedule then it might be the case that people hit the dance floor a little later. Whilst I always aim to capture the atmosphere of the evening events and shenanigans, I reserve the right to leave by 10PM since I’m usually exhausted by then after being on my feet all day.

Portrait Session Faq

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH AND STYLE AS A PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER?

My aim to capture natural and candid moments of you together. This will involve some posing to get you in a nice composition but otherwise a have a fairly hands off approach and prefer to wait for moments to happen. Ideally, the photoshoot would feel like we’re taking a walk together.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

I live in Canterbury but provide portrait services for Kent and London.

Just send me a message and if the dates align I’ll book you in. I do not require a deposit for portrait sessions but please let me know if you wish to cancel 3 days prior to the shoot date.

DO YOU HAVE A BACK UP CAMERA?

As a professional photographer pushing his gear to the limits, I need to be ready for any eventuality. I always take two camera bodies with me.

THE ENGLISH WEATHER. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS?

Unfortunately I cannot control the weather but I will do my best to create some beautiful photos for you no matter what the weather is. If it is raining heavily outside then we can still create some beautiful portraits in a more sheltered location. It might be a good idea to bring some umbrellas too since taking photos in the rain can also be fun too! Depending on availability at the time, I can provide some flexibility if the weather truly is terrible.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

It is nice to wear something that compliments each other, for example white with denim. I believe that simple colours are aways best and advise to avoid heavy patterns in fabrics, and avoid clothes with prominent logos.

IS TRANSPORT INCLUDED IN SESSION TIME?

Yes. If you choose two locations, the transport time is included. In addition, walking from spot to spot during the shoot is also included in the time frame. We often try to capture some candid moments during this “moving” time. I recommend to choose two locations fairly close together since travel time in London can be quite time consuming. Please also be aware that with children the walking pace tends to be slower than normal. We try our hardest to maximise the time of the shoot but in order to provide some different perspectives some walking is usually required.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE ARE LATE?

Please be aware that I may have a photoshoot or commitments following your session so please do your best to be on time. I cannot guarantee extra time for a late start. Travel times in London can be quite long especially due to the traffic so please ensure you leave in good time.
