A little about me...
Family portraits // story telling weddings // travel and adventure photography
Life is full of unexpected twists and turns; I’ve been a soldier, a student, a humanitarian aid worker in remote corners of the World…and now I’ve become a wedding and family photographer! It has been quite some journey so far but one thing has remained constant throughout these different chapters – following my passion and a lust for living life to the full.
Experiences are everything to me whether it be breathing in fresh mountain air, walking through my favourite streets, enjoying a cup of tea with a friend or all the moments in-between our busy lives. I try my best to live in the moment and experience life for all that it is.
It’s this passion for the here and now that I like to get across in my photos. Capturing moments, savouring them, telling stories whatever they may be. I like to get in close and feel the atmosphere or emotion, but at the same time I like to hang back and let events unfold for themselves.
A photo journalist at heart – I love telling stories as much as I do living them.
how i work...
As a Family and Wedding Photographer, I like to document moments as they happen with as little staging as possible. I prefer to use natural light but I am not afraid to use flash and off camera lighting when the situation requires it.
For Weddings, I use a combination of unobtrusive documentary photography aiming to capture the big smiles and emotions of the day in a natural manner, whilst also providing time for some more classic or creative portraits. I really want the love, warmth and happiness to come across in my photos without being cheesy! Photos should be timeless and still look good on your wall in 10, 20 or even 50 years time. The same is true for my family portrait sessions, which is why I always suggest we take a walk around one of your favourite scenic places and capture some moments as we walk along. The best time of day for me is late afternoon before sunset so we can (hopefully) get some beautiful golden light.
Accepting bookings for 2018 Weddings now! I am currently based in the UK and frequently travel to Asia. I'm always happy to travel for destination Weddings!
Where do I work?
I have been very fortunate in life to have had the opportunity of travelling to some fantastic destinations. I speak fluent Thai and speak a bit of Japanese too thanks to extensive time spent living and working in Asia. Although I am a Kent Wedding Photographer based in the UK, I still spend a lot of my time travelling, particularly during the Winter months.
I am also part of a wedding photography trio called Spicer and Naoi based in Tokyo, Japan. Please check it out if you're interested in finding a passionate team of wedding photographers for your big day in Japan! We'd be happy to help!
